Completed in September 2003, The San Antonio 9/11 Memorial honors the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The memorial has four structures, each carrying symbolic meaning and significance. The structures include the Wall of Freedom; representing the Pentagon; and ascending and descending walls; representing the Twin Towers in New York; and a 35 ft. stainless steel pillar housing an eternal flame; representing the plane that crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
The San Antonio 9/11 Memorial Educational Initiatives mission is to be a guide for present and future generations, as an advocate and a resource for homeland security initiatives, through education and partnerships.
